Sunday's Treasure Coast Ride

On the way home from Miami Sunday, I stopped in Stuart for an afternoon ride from Stuart to A1A, north to Fort Pierce, over the Intracoastal bridge and south along Indian River Drive back to Jensen Beach and Stuart. It's a ride I'm vey familiar with because I used to live in Jensen Beach.

It was dishearterning to see vegetation and trees cleared on the beach side of A1A between the St. Lucie power plant and Fort Pierce in St. Lucie County so that builders can construct monster houses such as this one.

The St. Lucie power plant discharges warm water, attracting manatees that like to play in the stuff.

To go from Stuart to A1A you have to cross two big bridges -- one that hops to Sewall's Point like this one and then another that goes from Sewall's Point to the barrier island. When I lived in the area, it was just draw bridges. Now they're big spans.

Good hill work.
