It projects an image of what appears to be a sharrow onto the road. I've seen devices such as this one also project a bike lane. I hope the surrounding vehicles can also see that same image.
You haven't seen any device project anything like this. The bike lane projector concept wouldn't work and this wouldn't either. You've seen photoshop mockups of design projects for nonexistent products that wouldn't work. Surely the design students that come up with this stuff must know an engineering student or two that should be able to tell them many many reasons why this would be impractical.
