Here's some upsetting news from the Tampa Tribune to start your week:
Police are seeking clues after a bicyclist was shot in the back and killed in Dade City late Sunday night.
Officers first got a call about a suspicious vehicle near 21st Street and Main Avenue at 11:09 p.m., Capt. David Duff said. Then they received a second call saying somebody had heard gunshots.
Officers found a vehicle on the side of the road and a man lying on the ground in front of it.
The victim, 37-year-old Charles Andrew Simonds, of 13705 23rd St., Dade City, was apparently riding a bicycle southbound on 21st Street when he was shot several times in the back, Duff said.
Witnesses said they heard shots and saw what appeared to be a sport utility vehicle leaving the area.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Dade City police at (352) 521-1493.
