Tampa Downtown Market To Host Complete Streets Demo Friday

The Tampa Downtown Market, an initiative of the Tampa Downtown Partnership, has teamed up with the Urban Charrette to host a Mobility Market on Friday, Feb. 19 from 10am – 2pm.

Madison Street will be (temporarily) redesigned using Complete Street principles. Complete streets are designed and operated to enable safe access for all users. Pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and public transportation users of all ages and abilities are able to safely move along and across a complete street.

Local agencies, businesses and organizations will have product displays and informative exhibits focused on improving mobility through good urban design and by supporting various modes of transportation. The Mobility Market will be located on Madison Street between Franklin Street. and Florida Avenue in downtown Tampa.

Elements highlighted that day will include:

*Transit Oriented Design “TOD” Sidewalk CafĂ© presented by the Hillsborough County Planning Commission
*Buffered bike lane with bike safety and commuting information and free bike safety checks presented by Tampa BayCycle, CityBike Tampa and SWFBUD
*Electric car and electric car charging station presented by NOVACharge
*Carsharing program presented by WeCar
*Park-n-Ride area presented by HART, PSTA, Bay Area Commuter Services and TBARTA
*Examples of complete street design principles presented by the City of Tampa
