My good friend Mariella Smith from south Hillsborough County is leading the charge to get the Hillsborough County MPO to include all six segments of the South Coast Greenway in its 2035 Long Range funding list.
Circle the date -- Aug. 3 -- and attend an MPO public hearing to speak up for the South Coast Greenway.
Much attention has been given to attaching the Upper Tampa Bay Trail with the Suncoast Trail in Hillsborough, but south county trail projects are often overlooked.

The south coast greenway trail was originally on the list of projects to be financed with the revenue from the proposed penny sales tax proposal on November's ballot, but the project got bumped because it was not deemed a transportation, road or light rail project.
