NY Times Profile Of Earl Blumenauer

Last March I attended the National Bike Summit in Washington, D.C. on behalf of SWFBUD to lobby Congressional members in Florida to support bicycling. During the conference, two of the biggest pro-bicycle members of Congress spoke to us: a feisty fella from Minnesota named James Oberstar and an erudite guy from Portland who wears a bowtie by the name of Earl Blumenauer.

Well, the New York Times got around to doing a profile on Blumenauer. So I guess because the New York Times did the story on him, his support of bicycling is now officially news.

But the way, I took this particular photo of Blumenauer last year because you have to check out Earl's pant cuffs. Even though he was speaking, he still kept on the clip that kept the pants leg from brushing onto his bike chain.
